In 2019, A few years ago, an engineer from a Canadian startup approached us about a system for navigation system for dental implant surgeries. Although the product presented to us did not align with the existing manufacturing technologies at our company, GTI Medical took on the challenge and initiated tailored manufacturing processes to meet the startup's requirements.
The system included mechanical components, electronic elements, optical cameras and unique parts manufactured through CNC machining, enabling real-time identification and tracking of the implant placement process in the patient’s jaw. The process also involved writing detailed assembly and operational instructions for the system, which were used by the client as part of their FDA submission.
Throughout the manufacturing and assembly process, issues arose concerning the stability and operation of the system. GTI Medical provided innovative engineering solutions, ultimately ensuring the system functioned correctly and met the client's specifications. After the production of the first three prototypes, the project was handed over to GTI Medical, which managed it under a structured project plan. This included procurement of plastic components, CNC machining, housing, optical and electronic parts, as well as packaging and shipping according to the company's planned requirements.
